Matt Meola faced down some tough competition to come out top and cart away a cool prize of $100,000 after winning Taylor Steele’s Innersection video contest. Going into the final days of the event he was tied with Craig Anderson but managed to do enough to bring home the bacon.
Maui Ripper’s great song, progressive surfing and awesome cinematography helped him pull off the big win.
“I was pretty involved,” explains Meola. “I sat by Eliot’s side in his editing bay for most of the editing. We both shared our ideas, and then he’d put them to work. After most of it was done, he’d email me drafts of the edit and I’d give him feedback. It was a team effort, for sure.”
And to be fair it is a killer video. Worth checking out both for the tune and the great footage. Boy can that boy surf!
