Mogwai Auto Rock

I’ve just not been able to get this tune out of my head of recent. I love it. It’s been a long old time since that kind of thing has happened where the tune lodged in the old noggin is actually decent and not some rubbish pop.

I must admit, huge music fan that I am, Mogwai somehow passed me by for years. I love ethereal soundscapes made by the likes of Boards of Canada, Plaid and others on the Warp label but somehow Mogwai passed me by. This in spite of a good Glaswegian mate of mine drumming on about them. For that I am shamed.

I will try and make up for that by seeing them live next year with the release of their next album ‘Hardcore will never die, but you will’. Hoping they’ll be at Glastonbury 2011 as I’m heading there again after a break of 3 years (I’d been going for 12 years straight so needed ‘some time’ to myself).

This year I may take some Havaianas flip flops with me to sell in the crowd! I’ll be the perfect rival to the blokes who walk around selling warm stella from their backpacks. “Get your Havaianas, ice cold Havaianas… yes I know it’s muddy but they make great ear muffs as well you know”.
