Nat Young racked up the highest heat score with 17.5 out of a possible 20. Nic Muscroft was explosive even though he had some problems with the choppy conditions and Gony Zubizarreta was the only European surfer remaining to compete in the round of 96 enjoying an easy victory in the process.
“I was kinda feeling a bit wobbly, I don’t know if any one has mentioned it but the water is really slippery, I don’t know what it is” said Mushcroft describing the unruly conditions in the water.
