The tragic premature death of Andy Irons has left many unanswered questions and led to some wild speculation from the gossip brigade. So I thought I’d share writer Brad Melekians moving article for any that still haven’t seen it.
He courses Andy’s pro life, the highs and the lows, his problem drinking, attempted interventions and more whilst interviewing close family and friends to create a picture of a complicated guy who was clearly battling with his demons at most times.
None more so than when Art Brewer recounts how he was out partying a week after being technically dead a week earlier “What really pissed me off is that he was so fucked up at the Surfer Poll Awards,” he said. “I couldn’t believe he hadn’t mellowed out. It made me wonder how he could go that hard and have a near-death experience—or a death experience—and then come back and push the envelope again.”
