Surfer Warren Smith Talks Favourite Booze Companions

Comments Surf News

Have you ever had one of those day dreams about who would be your perfect, famous, dinner guests? Or who would be great to be out in the line up with?

Christopher Hitchins
Christopher Hitchins aye?

Well it seems I’m not the only one as Surfing Magazine this week caught up with surf maestro Warren Smith to discuss his perfect drinking crew. He picked out:

Jesus (nice – does that mean he wouldn’t then have a hangover the next day?),

Huey P. Newton, Minister of Defence for the Black Panthers (right on),

Adam Smith, the Father of Capitalism (interesting choice – I’d ask him to explain why I only seem to have fluff in my pockets half the time),

Leon Trostky (heavy) and

Christopher Hitchins (indeedy – let battle commence).

I like his picks. My only problem with the list is that at some point in the night the heavy weight intellectualism might start to get lost in the ether as you repeatedly ask, ‘er, what are we talking about again? You lost me after socialism is the verisimilitude of contemporary flah, la, la, la, lah… hic’

Warren Smith on Adam Smith “I would get Adam wasted, record our conversation, write a book, film a movie called “The Invisible Hand” starring Chuck Norris, and make millions off of it.’’
